Y.O.Dr. Yeside Abiodun Oyetayo

Dr. Yeside Abiodun Oyetayo is a lawyer, insurance professional, trainer and public speaker with more than three decades of experience in the Nigerian insurance industry. She is the Managing Consultant and Chief Executive Officer of SOEYA Consult, an insurance training firm, and previously served as the pioneer Rector of the College of Insurance and Financial Management (CIFM), Nigeria.
Professional Leadership
During her tenure as pioneer Rector of CIFM, Dr. Oyetayo played a significant role in manpower development across various arms of the Nigerian insurance industry. Under her leadership, the College’s annual income grew from ₦38 million in 2015 to ₦289 million in 2022, including through the period of the COVID-19 pandemic.
She also helped develop CIFM’s partnerships with international organisations including the Impact Insurance Facility of the International Labour Organization (ILO), GIZ, Actuaries Without Borders (AWB), and the Insurance Training Centre (ITC), Uganda.
Insurance Training & Regulation
Dr. Oyetayo designed and organised mandatory professional training programmes including Bancassurance Certification and Retiree Life Annuity training, which were approved by Nigeria’s insurance regulator, NAICOM.
Industry Service
She serves as Chairperson of the Professional Insurance Ladies Association (PILA) Constitution Amendment Committee and is a member of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN) Enabling Law Review Committee. She has also served on the African Insurance Organisation (AIO) Book Award Committee for more than five years.
Academic Background
She holds bachelor’s degrees in Sociology from Lagos State University (1988) and Law (2005), a master’s degree in General Management from the University of Lagos (2001), a master’s degree in Legal Studies from the University of Leicester, UK (1992), and a PhD in Law specialising in Insurance Law and Regulation from the University of Leicester (2013).
Professional Credentials
Dr. Oyetayo became an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII), UK in 1993 and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2007.
Speaking, Research & Publications
Dr. Oyetayo has delivered technical workshops covering insurance, microinsurance, takaful, insurance regulation and management. She continues to contribute articles to academic journals locally and internationally.
Her published work includes a chapter on Pension Regulation in the Pension Commission-sponsored book Fundamental of Pension System.
